Happy Birthday OOTD 2013

Hello Everyone,

Well yesterday was my birthday and after two weeks of full on horrible Winter weather,FREEZING COLD TEMPERATURES, RAIN, THUNDER STORMS and miserable GREY SKIES, we had a beautiful sunny day, there was still a pinch in the air, but it was fabulous to wake up to the warm delicious SUN shining through my bedroom windows, I knew it was going to be the beginning of a fabulous day.

Apart from waking up to the delicious Sun, I had some presents waiting for me on my bedside table, now I should tell you that this isn't a usual occurance for me. My husband is wonderful, but to be honest he has never really done gifts that well, although he has bought me things in the past that I have loved, he hasn't ever really bought me a birthday present I didn't already know about it before, even though I spied out some pamphlets that weren't mine, I still really wasn't that sure and I wasn't going to get my hopes up. hehehe

So of course I gave him some cuddles before having a look at them, he has only bought me jewellery one other time which was a necklace and I love it and still have it, I have worn it in another OOTD post.

First present was from Michael Hill Jewellers, some Rose Gold twisted hoop earrings to go with my Rose Gold Michael Kors Watch that I already bought myself for my birthday hehe and............................

these new Pandora charms and clips for my bracelet, so originally I only had six charms, I have been quite slack with my Pandora bracelet, but my husband doubled the amount in one birthday, thanks my darling. I love them, I actually would love anything he bought me himself, because he bought it and that is a big ask hehehe. So my Pandora bracelet is filling up.

So you probably may have realised that my husband stayed home with me for the day, lucky me, we went out to breakfast with an Uncle I share my birthday date with, I couldn't get any photos with him because my phone is out of action for now and my camera was at home. But I managed to get a couple of photos up on Instagram of my OOTD. Here they are!! I love this combination of colours and I have been wanting to wear this dress for a long time now but I hadn't got the opportunity to wear it until yesterday.

HANDS ON HIPS

HANDS DOWN

I loved this outfit of the day, Casual but pretty.

We pretty just mucked around for the day, went to go and see how much it will cost to be my phone fixed, then we both had a nap when we got home. My sister and husband bought Chinese for tea, which was nice we didn't have to cook anything and then, then we had a yummy birthday Cheescake, with was delicious the combination of Almonds and Passionfruit it undeniably one of my favourite Cheesecake combinations. It was yum then to top it of my Sister had a few pressies for me as well. I had a wonderful day it my pretty OOTD.

Playing catch up

Hey everyone,
I know it has been forever since my last post so many fabulous OOTDs and so many Shopping Hauls I have missed out on, most importantly so many weeks of Aussie Curves Challenges I have missed :( !!
Believe me when I say I have been so busy with nothing else other then LIFE. For the last 8 months I was lucky enough to be allowed to Co-Curate an exhibition called 'Manatunga' the closest english translation for this is 'Heirlooms', basically we are showcasing Historic Maori treasures we hold in our Heritage collection and it has definitely been a huge learning experience for me.

I am also in my last year of full-time study and I cant wait for that part of my life to be done and dusted. Seriously! the majority of the writing I have been doing is essays upon essays. I love the pressure though.

I have however had heaps of time to shop, I absolutely love online shopping,  I especially love my ladies at the City Chic store at St Lukes. Shout out to all of you fantabulous ladies.

On another scale I have recently been watching a lot of Fatshion ladies on YouTube,  which is a whole other ball game again, amazing and very inspirational. I have been recently posting OOTDs on my Instagraam, which is all I have for you at the moment, but now that I have time, Watch this space :).

That is all I have at the moment I hope all is well.

Love and light xox.

Night and Day at Conference

I have truly returned to work, last week was so busy, I had a talk to give and then a Work Conference took up the rest of my week. I am quickly learning how dedicated I need to be to get regular posts up on my blog. Although I had fun with my outfits last week, I had little time to get photos of my outfits and I didn't even get a chance to take part in last weeks, Aussie Curves challenge. : (

Even though I had a busy week, the conference was absolutely amazing, inspiring even. It also provided  me with great opportunities to pull out some of my dresses I have been wanting to wear and post on here, now I am definitely in two minds about whether I should post these pathetic photos, these dresses are so beautiful and it almost feels like I am not doing them any justice. Yes the photos are very poor quality, I ended up doing 'selfies' which I absolutely hate to do, but I had to snap myself in some of these amazing dresses and outfits because I felt absolutely gorgeous in these dresses.

These dresses are very similar in style and the cut I love on me because I feel that it gives an illusion that my stomach is smaller then it actually is and as I am loving my legs these days, in this style dress they look fantastic.

I tell you, when more fuller figured women realise that all they need is a great bra to give them a waste and most importantly some shape a lot more women would feel a lot happier with how they look when they go to things such as Cocktail events and formal dinners.

I hope you all like the outfits, huge apologies about the photos, but as I said I felt great in the dresses and I am going to post them even if the photos are shitty.

This first outfit I bought to wear at a Wedding I went to at the end of last year, I have been itching to wear it again, I love the colour and so do many others, I actually done a double banger of this outfit last week, I wore this to the Cocktail Part at Conference last Wednesday night and I also wore it on Sunday at another cousins wedding. I love, love, love this dress.

Waitangi Day Special - New Dress Tradition

For those who don't know, Waitangi Day is a national public holiday, similar to Australia Day, it is definitely a CELEBRATION DAY for our family and we always like to do something family orientated. Whether it be going to Waitangi for the day and enjoying the many events that have been prepared or just plain going for a picnic somewhere.

Today we decided to head to Army Bay for the day, SUN, BEACH, FOOD, SUN, FOOD, BEACH. It was a fantastic day, remembering that we have been so lucky to be blessed with a day off in the middle of the week, it was awesome down time for all of us.

I felt I needed to do a special post of the day, purely because I have noticed that for the past five years I have bought a new dress for every Waitangi Day, it's sort of a tradition I started for myself hehe. Just another reason to go shopping hehehe I suppose. I wish I had photos of every outfit I have had for the past five Waitangi Day Celebrations. Is this something you do maybe? Do you buy a new outfit for a annual celebration?

So this is my dress I bought especially for Waitangi, I hope you all like it!

OOTD - Cotton and Boots - Aussie Curves Catch-up

Happy Cotton Anniversary to me!!

This has to be one of my favourite Wedding photos, we are doing a 'hongi' a traditional Maori custom. A lot of people tend to get his wrong in photos and at times looks too staged, however I think this is perfect, natural and the love is definitely overflowing in this shot.

Two years is huge these days, I look forward to many more.

Even thought yesterday was a special day for me the weather was horrible here in Auckland, grey skys and it was windy, so this called for a totally different look. I have been wearing a lot of dresses this Summer and to be honest I haven't had so many dresses I have loved to be able to choose and wear a different one everyday for two to three weeks, so I have been enjoying it.

Yesterday's look was far from a dress, but I did want to show off my $5 boots, I'm a boots girl for sure, I love them short boots, tall boots, medium boots lol, but I have never had YELLOW boots, or paid $5 for a pair either. I noticed boots was also on my Aussie Curves catch up list sooooo, VOILA!!!

Obviously I'm at work, I got my workmate to take some shots this time. So I felt like I was really rocking this look yesterday. I love this BLUE peplum jacket from City Chic I have the same jacket in four different colours, they are great for work. I decided to dark chiffon layers down the middle, but a bit of bling at the top with my necklace and I love the fact that the buttons break the darkness a bit and my gorgeous YELLOW boots. The are definitely not everyone's cuppa tea, but they do look gorgeous one and sometimes you just have to know how to wear them.

The boots were cheap because they were on the faulty table, they had a few black scuff marks on the suede, but it didn't take much to brush the scuff marks out. Absolute bargain.

Last but not least, a big shout out to my handsome husband. I love you so much.

OOTD - Stripes - Aussie Curves Catch-ups

It's Friday and my first week back at work for 2013 is almost all done in dusted I finished the week in Stripes. I had fun this dress today and I am definitely warming up to the camera. My husband is getting better as well.

I chose this outfit because it was fun and well I am loving my above the knee dresses this week, I had a few options for this theme and I tried them all on, but the others were not working for me so here goes.

Jacket / dress - City Chic
Shoes - The Number One Shoe Warehouse
Necklace / Bangles - Virtu
Glasses - Rubi

I had to add the jacket because I love a splash of colour, but mainly because it was a bit chilly this morning, otherwise I would rock it without the jackets.

So that is my stripes look for today.

OOTD – Dark – Aussie Curves Catch-ups

This is probably as ‘DARK’ as it will get for me, other then when I attend a Tangi (funeral) which is the only time I really wear Dark Clothing. Don’t get me wrong I do have my fair share of Dark Clothing, but I always have a splash of Colour somewhere.

As we are having beautiful weather here in Auckland City, I didn’t want to get to Dark, so even though it’s dark I am still rocking a little bit of colour.

This dress I have just snatched up recently from City Chic, this outfit is a bit of a ‘Breaking the rules’ outfit for me, well ‘Breaking MY OWN rules outfit’ I have never really liked the look of ‘Handkerchief Hems’ on dresses or skirts, but as it was on SALE, I decided to try it on. Well didn’t I get a surprise! I must admit I love the way it looks on me and I love wearing it, but I can’t say it is one of my favourites. I have been given a lot of compliments about this outfit, so it makes me feel good too hehe.

How terrible, this dress has everything going for it and it’s still not one of my favourites, one day maybe! I have to apologise for the terrible full body shots, the light outside was a bit too much and then the breeze was too strong, so these were the best I could do for today.

I must admit I am loving my shoes!!

The necklace is what we call a 'Hei Tiki' the pendant being a 'tiki' and the 'hei' being the action word of tying aroung the neck. Gorgeous colour isn't it, this was a Valentines day present from my husband, bought at the Okahu Bay, Waitangi Day Celebrations 2008.

Overall I must admit this outfit is very comfortable to wear, nice and cool for the Summer, the Wedges so light and easy to walk in. I usually rock this without a bolero, but as I don't have a black bra on today, I haven't given you all a look at the detail on the back of the dress.

Dress/ Bolero/ Zebra print Ring  - City Chic

OOTD - Orange - Aussie Curves Catch-ups

If there is one thing I love about being a librarian it is being free to dress as you please. There are no strict rules and no dress codes, I think the only expectation is that we dress tidy. There maybe expectations from the public about what librarians should be dressed like, as the normal idea of a librarian is usually an old lady who wears glasses and walks around telling everyone to be quiet.

Libraries are changing all over the world and so are the librarians. This is great for me as I get to be as fashionable as I want to be and never feel out of place. Sadly today's photos were not taken at the library as I didn't have my phone on me. So when I dropped my nephew off to boarding school this afternoon I got some photos taken of my outfit under the trees outside of his dorm. Luckily they were all at dinner. But I was still fast because it was too hot to stand around and I didn't want to embarrass my nephew if they came back hehe.

Now my outfit of the day was planned and deliberate, I have been on holiday for six weeks and today was my first day back. My outfit planned because I wanted to do a Catch up Aussie Curves post as well. I will continue to do this until I have caught up, the added bonus is that I will have a reason to post on my blog everyday. Yay!!!

I love this dress it is a great Summer dress, nice and cool and I am a big fan of chiffon in the Summer months. I also really love this combination of Orange and Blue, I know the challenge was Orange but I thought these Blue accents just gave it that something extra.
